(www.TheSingleMomClub.com) – When you’re struggling on a budget but want to enjoy a good time with your children, it can feel like the world is against you. But, if you know where to look and how to look for deals, you’ll be able to take your family to amazing places for free or very, very reduced prices.
Whether you say doughnut or donut, you probably say it with crumbs on your mouth. In this thread, we’ll share with you a month-long list of free things or darn near free things starting with National Donut Day, which is JUNE 3, 2016.
Krispy Kreme – Just walk into any store (except those in Connecticut) and you can pick up a powdered, glazed or filled doughnut of any variety. The chain’s not limiting the giveaway to U.S. locations, either. It’s also handing out freebies in Australia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Turkey and other countries.
Dunkin Donuts – You’ll need to buy a beverage here in order to get your free doughnut, but what’s a doughnut without coffee or milk? The chain is also leveraging social media to raise awareness of the day, including (but not limited to) special Snapchat filters. Want other freebies? Keep reading.
Tim Horton’s “Big Deal”: Bring this coupon to your local Tim Hortons and you can walk out with a 6-pack of donuts for $2.99. You’re not getting anything for free here (unlike last year), but a deal is a deal, right?
When: According to the coupon fine print, this deal is actually good until July 31st. Use it wisely.
LaMar’s Donuts: The deal: Show them this Golden Ticket and your local LaMar’s will give you one free donut; however, the deal excludes “specialty” donuts. Whatever, a free donut is a free donut.
When: All day.
Shipley Do-Nuts: The deal: One free glazed donut, or “do-nut” as they call them, available at participating locations. When: 5am to noon.
WASHINGTON, DC: Starting at 7 a.m. until they’re gone, The Salvation Army is giving away more than 6,000 free doughnuts at the following D.C. Metrorail stops: Capital South, Foggy Bottom, L’Enfant Plaza, Metro Center and Union Station.
- At District Doughnut at Barracks Row (their Georgetown pop-up will not be open), starting at 7 a.m. until they sell out, they will donate 10 percent of sales to FIRST Skin Foundation in honor of their General Manager Melissa. Her son is dealing with a difficult skin condition.
- At Fractured Prune, freebies vary by location. In Crofton, get a free doughnut of your choice. In Owings Mills, in-store guests get a free OC Sand doughnut.
- At Sugar Shack shops in Alexandria and Arlington, buy a doughnut and you’ll get a free Donut4Good card. The card is good for a free doughnut. You’re encouraged to give the card to someone you know who has done a good deed.
- At The Treat Shop RVA in Richmond, they’re giving away one free glazed doughnut to every customer all day.
Entenmann’s – While you’ll likely find a few locations giving away these grocery store staples, the big draw is the company’s sweepstakes, which will award 10 winners free doughnuts for a year.
Randy’s Donuts – The iconic Los Angeles doughnut house will offer free donut holes from 6am-12pm. It’s also planning a raffle for patrons.
Duck Donuts – This chain, with 30 locations along the east coast (mostly in Virginia and North Carolina), is offering patrons a free sugar doughnut in observance of the holiday. Head to the Facebook page, via the link above, and claim the offer, which will send a coupon to your email. Show that at the store to claim your treat.
Shipley Do-Nuts – Fans of this chain, located largely in the South and Midwest, can claim a free glazed doughnut any time between 5am and noon. A portion of all sales will be dedicated to the Salvation Army.
Voodoo Doughnut – Sadly, this iconic chain does not appear, at present, to be offering any free food this year. It will, however, unveil a new type of doughnut – and given that it’s the company that created iconic munchies like the Bacon Maple Bar doughnut and the Captain my Captain (topped with Cap’n Crunch cereal), that’s still something to get excited about.
