COOKING CLASS: Guest Post: Avocado hummus is a favorite among kids and grown ups alike

avocado hummus
( – You’ve probably known all your life that a banana is a high potassium fruit, which makes it an excellent food choice for anyone, but especially for exercisers and also those with high blood pressure. But did you know that 1 avocado has double the amount of potassium as 1 banana?

2 cups garbanzo beans, drained
2 avocados
1 jalapeño, stem removed
2 cloves garlic
2 TBS fresh cilantro
1 TBS tahini
3/4 tsp salt
¼ cup olive oil
½ cup water or liquid from garbanzo beans
¼ cup lime juice

Slice your avocado is half and remove the pit.* Scoop the fruit from the shell with a spoon.

Blend all the ingredients together in a blender or a food processor until smooth. If necessary drizzle in additional small amounts of olive oil until it reaches your desired consistency.

Put in a bowl and garnish with fresh cilantro and diced tomatoes if desired. Serve with homemade tortilla chips and cut vegetables.

*This is best served and eaten within 1 day. The lime juice keeps it from turning brown within that first day. To keep it fresh looking longer, save the pits from the avocados and place them inside the hummus. When ready to serve remove the pits.

CELEBRITY CHILD SUPPORT: When high rollers get arrested, other dads finally start coughing up child support payments

Richa Dollaz arrested for child aupport nonpayment
( – Now that he has been arrested again, reality TV star and mega producer, Rich Dollaz, proves there’s more to a man than a nickname. That’s because the mega peoducer, whose real name is Richard Trowers, remains in jail after getting arrested rather than paying the child support he owes.

According to the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office in New Jersey, Dollaz was picked up on two outstanding warrants including one for less than $12,000 in support and the other for a whopping $188,000. Rich Dollaz was popped on February 19, 2015 and remains in custody.

At $70,000 per season on Love and Hip Hop, Rich Rollaz should be able to make his payments. He has been working as an entertainment manager for years in the industry. Rich Dollaz accumulated his net worth while getting 10% of the artist he represented including Olivia. She currently has a deal with Jerry Wonder at Wonda Music, who worked with Wyclef Jean. With her deal she received a $1 million deal for 3 albums. Dollaz received a 10% of her deal at $100,000 up front. Rich has close ties with Diddy. He managed several of his artist including Cassie for a short stint, Danity Kane, Ryan Leslie and Young Joc.

Charlie Sheen child supportThe mother of his child took Rich Dollaz to court for a paternity test order. He missed the court date avoiding the possibility of being a father for another child and ended up having a warrant out for his arrest in Memphis. The cops arrested him while he was attending a talent show in Memphis under a false name. Rich has been avoiding to pay child support for his 14 year old daughter.

He is hardly alone. Celebrity dads like Charlie Sheen, Dwayne Wade, Larry Bird and others have been hauled into court for related issues.

He berated the actress in a Twitter rant in December, to which she responded with pleas for him to stop airing their issues in public.

Sheen has not paid his court-ordered $55,000 monthly child support since January, according to TMZ sources, and has reportedly told Richards that he plans to sell their house. The actor bought the home for her in 2011 to have his children close to him.

By far the most troubling is Devon Still, the NFL plager who some say may be exploiting his daughter Leah’s cancer to win the court of public opinion but the girl’s mom says is otherwise a deadbeat when the cameras are not rolling.

Houston Texans star Arian Foster is putting his nasty baby mama feud behind him by settling their child custody and support battle before it went to trial.

According to court records, Foster and Brittany Norwood decided they didn’t want to take the case to trial and have come to an agreement on their own. The two were supposed to appear in a Houston court, but that’s been cancelled.

BABY MAMA DRAMA: When single moms like Amber Rose behave badly we all pay – even the kids

image ( – Dad rights activists exploded in rage recently when celebrity mom, Amber Rose allegedly refused to allow son Sabastian to attend his 2nd birthday party that his dad threw for him.

Wiz Khalifa pulled off a super cool “Jake and the Neverland Pirates” themed party February 21, 2015 but says his son, whose nickname is “Bash,” never showed because as Wiz alleged his ex-wife denied the kid a good time out of spite.

Wiz posted sad pics of the party on social media with the caption, “only thing missing was Bash,” referring to their son Sebastian.

Wiz more than implied that he was shocked and hurt that Amber was supposed to bring Sebastian to the party. He gave the impression that he thought he and Amber Rose would celebrate Sabastian’s birthday together as co-parents. He did not mention how many times he has been late – if ever – picking up the child. Some skeptics say the rapper is clearly angling for custody and using social media – and his son – to do it. But Wiz says it’s Amber not him using their child as a pawn.

Khalifa put Amber on blast saying, “I’ve never voiced my true unhappiness out of fear of the person I was with and what she would do to make me more unhappy of anyone knew.”

Wiz goes on to champion father’s rights, saying, “Standing up for all fathers who need, deserve, or can’t find help,” adding, “As a man, and a dad you’ll feel like, ‘I got this.’ But who got us?” In other words, the system doesn’t protect fathers, but 90% of parents who owe child support are fathers.

It’s not like single moms don’t pull miracles and party rabbits out of their hats on a regular basis. Single moms managed to put bicycles together on Christmas Eve, pay rent, do homework and even keep lights on and they don’t get half the praise that Wiz Khalifa is getting. Single moms comb their daughter’s hair daily but don’t get Nikon camera commercials like the gay Black dads who have been exploiting their kids for fame. Why is it that all of a sudden, if a dad ties his kid’s shoe that he gets a purple heart?

Amber Rose’s recent social media drama makes it easy for one to feel for Wiz Khalifa but isn’t that exactly what he is hoping?

Earlier this month, posted a similiar article with advice for co-parenting during birthdays. Read it here:

Marie Holmes wins lottery( – It’s the thing every single mom dreams of: Hitting the lottery.

That’s exactly what happened for single mom Marie Holmes of North Carolina.

“I thought I was going to have a heart attack when I saw the ticket and checked it,” she said. Holmes told the station that she was forced to quit her jobs at Wal-Mart and McDonald’s to care for her four children, one of whom has cerebral palsy. She said that she plans to give to her church, buy a new house and set up college funds for the kids.

Holmes, 26, has come forward with what she says is one of the three winning tickets in the $564 million Powerball jackpot.  The mom who lives in the town of Shallotte, told NBC affiliate WECT on February 12, 2015 that she was on her way to confer with lawyers and a financial adviser before turning in the ticket to state lottery officials.

“I scared my kids,” said the mother of four, recounting the moment she realized her good fortune. One of Holmes’ children suffers from cerebral palsy. Continue reading
